I think in any other situation the words would have stung quite a bit.
Jacque, I don't need you.
We were on the phone one afternoon talking about life, our relationship, and our future. That's when my boyfriend said those words,
"Jacque, I don't need you."
Our conversation blurred in front of me. Surely, after a little over a year he wasn't going to break up with me like that! What does he mean he doesn't need me?
Thankfully, he continued the sentence with I don't need you...
I need Jesus. Desperately.
It's like the love brick wall hit me in the face again. What a wonderful man God has blessed me with! But isn't he so right? If you're anything like me, maybe you think you need a lot of things.
-I need a comfortable home (maybe not extravagant, but comfortable for sure)
-I need a steady income and a safe budget
-I need friends who have my back
-I need a kid who behaves
-I need a longer grey jacket
The truth is you don't need any of that and neither do I. You, me, my boyfriend we all need Jesus, desperately. Once we set our eyes on Him and realize He is the fulfiller, the provider, the dream giver, the everything.
"And my God will supply every need of yours according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus. To our God and Father be glory forever and ever. Amen."
God will provide. It says so right here in the Bible. He knows our needs better than we do. In fact, God knows our wants better than we do. And He will provide everything with the perfect timing that He always does. We genuinely don't need anything other than Him.
My boyfriend may love me and I may love him, but he's right we don't need each other.
Reevaluate your own relationships and priority lists--are you giving Jesus the need priority above all else? Ask Him to help set your priorities straight. Fix your eyes on Him and all your needs and wants will be perfectly fulfilled according to His will.
